About FLYC Social Activities

The Social Committee is responsible for organizing all shore-side club activities. A quick glance at the club calendar will make it clear that the FLYC is a pretty social bunch and that we like to get together often for a good time!

Social events usually begin in early May with a pizza party in the boatyard as most of us are performing those final steps toward commissioning our vessels. This gives us all time to catch our collective breath as we debate the merits of competing brands of bottom paint and topside wax.

During the summer months, the club sponsors multiple picnics and dinners on the lawn next to the marina. Usually the club will supply the entree and members will bring a dish to pass and share. These events are well attended. Guests are welcome, but a nominal cover charge is usually requested to help offset club expenditures.

Even our died-in-the-wool racers are social creatures at heart. After every race there is a shore-side mixer and "social hour" that is open to all club members. These are very informal affairs where the various boat crews will share an assortment of appetizers and beverages amongst all the attendees.
